Perfecine 200mg Tablet (Pirfenidone)

Perfecine 200mg Tablet contains Pirfenidone. Perfecine 200mg Tablet is a antifibrotic agent. Treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) to slow decline in lung function; it does not reverse established lung scarring. Pirfenidone tablet has antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory effects, including modulation of profibrotic pathways such as TGF-β signaling; its full clinical mechanism is not completely established. The exact strength and presentation matter for safe dosing; patients should follow the treating specialist’s plan and should not substitute a different strength or formulation without review.

Pirfenidone 200mg Tablet is generally prescribed for the treatment of:
Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) – It aids in reducing the decline of lung function in IPF patients.
However, use of Pirfenidone 200mg is based on the following factors:

• ​Patient’s diagnosis
  
• Disease severity
  
• Other medications taken by the patient
  
• Laboratory results
• Assessment by the specialist physician

It doesn’t reverse any existing damage in the lungs and is not a substitute for regular medical monitoring in IPF patients.

Pirfenidone 200mg tablet exhibits anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory properties. In idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), the drug is used to lower the activity of pathways that cause excessive scarring in the lungs. It is believed to inhibit the production of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and other pro-inflammatory factors responsible for fibrosis.

According to ASCEND and CAPACITY trials, Pirfenidone200mg has demonstrated less deterioration in forced vital capacity (FVC) as a measure of lung function as compared to placebo in patients with IPF. It should be noted that both trials used the specific formulation and dosage of Pirfenidone tablet. There were no clinical trials performed using the drug. Consequently, the evidence obtained refers to Perfecine 200mg itself, and the study subjects, control and outcomes need to be taken into account when evaluating the findings.

Some side effects of Perfecine 200 mg Tablet are possible, but not all patients will experience these. The possible side effects of the tablet include:
Common Side Effects

• Nausea
  
• Dyspepsia (indigestion)
  
• Reduced appetite
  
• Fatigue
  
• Rash
  
• Photosensitivity (increased sensitivity to sunlight)
  
• Dizziness

Serious Side Effects

• ​Severe skin reactions
  
• Serious liver-related problems
  
• Severe allergic reactions
  

Any persisting, serious or irritating symptom must be informed to the attending healthcare provider.

In case of a forgotten dosage of Perfecine Tablet, contact the health care practitioner or see the product information leaflet. No double dosage should be taken in order to compensate for a forgotten dosage. However, in case of missed dosages, the practitioner may need to revise the treatment regimen since the introduction of Pirfenidone 200mg treatment is usually gradual.

• Liver function must be assessed before initiating therapy, once every month in the first six months and then every three months subsequently. The clinician may also assess body weight, tolerance to treatment, sun exposure precautions, and pulmonary function.
  
• Routine assessment will enable detection of any liver issues, side effects of treatment, and any changes in the patient's condition while using Pirfenidone tablet.
